Serbia is located on the west part of Balkan peninsula in the eastern part of Europe. Majority of people are Serbs. They belong to South Slavic group of people living in the Central Europe and the Balkans, between the Balkan and Carpathian mountains in the east and the Adriatic sea in the west. Serbs speak the Serbian language, a member of the South Slavic group of languages, and is mutually intelligible with the standard Croatian and Bosnian language, and so many people are also speaking English fluently.

The Serb settled the Balkans between 610 and 626, and since then this is territory of Serbia. The first Serb states were Rascia or Raška and Zeta. Serbia reached its golden age under the Nemanjicis until the Kosovo Battle against the Ottoman Empire in the XIV century. At the beginning of the 19th century after the First and the Second Serbian Uprising against the Turks succeeded, resulted recognition of Serbia as autonomous country.
